Biaggi Endorsed By New York State Planned Parenthood Empire State Votes PAC

Alessandra Biaggi, continuing her campaign for the 34 Senate District seat, is pleased to announce her endorsement from Planned Parenthood Empire State Votes PAC, a statewide organization dedicated to supporting pro-reproductive health candidates

Statement from Robin Chappelle Golston, Chair, Planned Parenthood Empire State Votes PAC:

“We are at a critical crossroads in our history and we must act now to ensure our access to reproductive health and secure our rights. This election depends on every New Yorker taking action to send a message to Washington that we will not go backwards, that we will stand up for the most marginalized members of our community, and that everyone of us deserves equal access to health care. Alessandra Biaggi is committed to this fight.”

Statement from Laura McQuade, Endorsement Committee Member, Planned Parenthood Empire States Votes PAC:

“Planned Parenthood is pleased to endorse Alessandra Biaggi for New York Senate District 34. Biaggi has made it crystal clear that she will champion sexual and reproductive health and rights legislation in Albany if she is elected.  Biaggi is impressively well-versed in the issues that impact Planned Parenthood of New York City’s patients and the communities we serve every day. With the constant attacks from Washington, it is urgent that lawmakers in Albany pass legislation that will protect New Yorkers’ access to abortion and affordable birth control.”

“One of my main reasons for running was not being able to help pass the Reproductive Health Act, which would give New York State women, through state law, all the protections now provided under Roe v. Wade. So it's particularly meaningful to me to have such a strong endorsement from Planned Parenthood's PAC,” Biaggi said. “It’s completely unacceptable that New York, a leader on this issue almost 50 years ago, treats abortion in its criminal laws, not its health laws. And we couldn’t even get common sense birth control legislation passed in the Senate. With Roe at risk federally, I pledge to make passing the Reproductive Health Act and the Comprehensive Contraceptive Coverage Act my highest priorities.”
